What would happen if you went to see a hypnotherapist?
When I am first contacted by clients, many seem nervous and do not know what to expect. One of the most popular questions I hear is ‘what will happen if I come to see you?’ well let me tell you.
If you were to contact me at Boost Therapy today, whether by email or telephone, the very first thing we will do is have a chat. We arrange a mutually convenient time, so pop the kettle on, have a cuppa and we can talk on the phone. I won’t have a daisy in my tea, but do whatever floats your boat!
It is really important to me that you feel comfortable with me and that I am the right hypnotherapist for you. Therapy is a choice, so you should be able to have the information before you commit. I am not right for everyone, and we might not be right for each other so talking is the first point that helps us on our way.
This free consultation gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and explain to you what hypnotherapy actually is. We can clear up myths and misconceptions and discuss any concerns or remaining questions you have. You can also tell me a bit about your issue or the reason in which you are considering hypnotherapy for, and we can discuss options that are available. Once we have finished our chat many clients like to book their first face to face appointment, striking whilst the iron is hot so to speak, but there is no obligation or judgement if you need to go away and think more about your decision. You have to do what is right for you.
Next we have our first appointment. This is where we do our first work together and you sit in the “hypno chair”, I do some ‘information gathering’ and you can tell me about you and how your issue is affecting you. Depending on what that is, it’s good for me to understand where you are at right now. Your Point A. We then talk about what your desire is, where you want to be. This is your Point C. Afterwards we agree some achievable goals that we can work on together. These are Point Bs. By identifying Point Bs, we can measure our success, check we are making progress, and most importantly see the progress we are making. Milestones are perfect for seeing how well you are doing and keeping the motivation going. This is the essence of the treatment plan I will create to ensure we hit those goals, and support you in the best way through your journey. Once that bit is over and done with, we get on to the really fun part. Hypnosis.
You can choose music, or not to have music, you experience your first hypnosis session, and glimpse at how wonderful your own mind is. Depending on what the issue we are working on is, you might tick off your first Point B! How amazing! Once the hypnosis is over, you could feel revitalised, motivated, energised, or resourceful. It really depends what we have been doing, whatever that is, you will leave feeling confident that you can do ‘it’, completely capable that you can achieve your tasks that are set for between sessions, oh and jolly well relaxed. How lovely.
So if you have been thinking about whether hypnotherapy is right for you, and perhaps a bit afraid of what would happen if you booked an appointment. I hope this helps clear it up a bit for you.
