This Autumn is the perfect time for you to change your life
The chills really hit Hampshire, and then it’s warm again. It’s a bit all over the place isn’t it…? Whilst I’m not a massive fan of the cold, I do love this time of the year. It’s perfect for me to get out the big knits and throws and snuggle on the sofa, but also this is a time for transition. Nature never resists this change and it goes with it every year, without fail.
Just look outside to notice. It may be cloudy or there may be rain where you are but how beautiful are the trees? The colours of the leaves are stunning.
This natural process is necessary for the trees, and through their cycle of change they reveal the wondrous colours we can see now, their last expression of self before releasing the leaves completely, ready to start fresh and new.
You see, as people we fear change. Change is different. Different can mean the unknown. The unknown is scary. But this is just beliefs that we have been taught. Change is really nothing to be feared. Change is only scary because it feels different; it feels weird in comparison to what we are used to, our perception of our normal.
It doesn’t matter that your version of normal might be rubbish; it might be something that you wish were not true. Your version of normal is comfortable because you know it. You know how your body will respond, you know how your mind responds. That knowledge brings comfort because you have that insider information. The behaviour is ingrained within you, so regardless of how much you hate your version of normal, you still know what to expect. I hope that makes sense.
So I ask for you now to take a moment and think or reflect. Re-assess your goals. What were your hopes and dreams for 2016? What was your resolution back in January?
Take some time out and really think about what it is that you wanted when you were full of hope and anticipation for what this year might bring for you, for what you would achieve. Then write them down.
Its only November, there is still well over a month to go before we will be singing Auld Lang Syne. That means there is still plenty of time to make some changes. Plenty of time to put yourself in a better position for 2017 and carrying on with what you started. You are not a failure because you didn’t do something in January of February. There’s only failure when you give up.
Give yourself permission to succeed before the year is out. Set yourself up on a high ready for your next new years resolution. If you need any help getting to be the person you are proud of when the clock strikes midnight, you know how to find me. Id be delighted to help.
Stop Stopping. You’ve got this.
